Piece description from the artist
In the local marshes there are plenty of bird species to photograph. One to the more common is the Great White Egret. Captured here with a fresh catch of what appears to be a small bass, it will relocate a place where it feels more comfortable to enjoy its catch. Most of the year round birds, are creatures of habit. They feed in the same area each day at about the same time. Knowing those spots is part of the photography adventure. These birds have a comfort zone and after a few days of easing closer to them they begin to accept one's presents. One must have patients and time to spend while slapping mosquitoes and deer flies gently enough not to scare the bird away.
Charles “Dennis” McKelroy’s interest in photography started soon after graduation from High School. Dennis has taken several courses in photography to advance his knowledge in the art; first with film, and recently with digital.
His interest has mostly been nature, wildlife, scenic, and still life. He has traveled extensively around Texas as well as other parts of the United States, Mexico, and other countries. Having been raised in southeast Texas along the Gulf coast many of his images have been captured locally. West Texas also holds a special interest to him. The Texas hill country, desert and areas around the Big Bend, Alpine, and the Davis Mountains high plains are subjects you'll find among his collections. Dennis looks for original subjects that have not been previously captured; going to out of the way places in search of the everyday scenes that are usually overlooked.
Dennis’ equipment is mostly Canon professional camera bodies and lenses. All of his photos are of original subjects edited to as near as possible as what Dennis saw at the time of capture.
Thank you for your interest. I’m honored you took the time to look through the collections and hope that you will find an image to fulfill your need.
