Swirls of White Pocket After Sunset

What an absolutely breathtaking start to magic hour across the surreal landscape of White Pocket in Arizona. After the sun dipped below the horizon, the western sky glows with bold golden-orange light while deep blue clouds above begin to pick up hints of pink and purple.

The textured sandstone formations, normally filled with warm creams, oranges, and whites, reflect the cool blue tones of the surrounding evening atmosphere. Swirls, mounds, ridges, and sculpted rock patterns stretch across the landscape in every direction, creating a scene that feels almost unreal. It’s a place that truly feels like Mars on Earth.

Located near the Utah border within Vermilion Cliffs National Monument on the rugged Paria Plateau, White Pocket showcases some of nature’s most extraordinary sandstone formations and layered textures. The remote wilderness requires high clearance and four-wheel drive to reach, but the reward is an unforgettable landscape unlike anywhere else. The colors, shapes, and natural artistry found here are simply mind-blowing.
