Roughlock Falls cascades over a rugged cliff in South Lawrence, South Dakota, with the main drop reaching about 50 feet. I captured this view from the upper viewpoint as a long exposure, creating a smooth, flowing appearance in the rushing water.
Surrounded by the wild vegetation of the Black Hills, the multi-tiered waterfall is framed by trees, branches, grasses, and a towering rock wall rising behind the cascade. A couple of walkways can also be seen winding through the surrounding landscape, providing different perspectives of the falls.
Part of Little Spearfish Creek, Roughlock Falls features three viewpoints where visitors can experience the changing character of the cascade. Its rugged setting and lush surroundings make it a memorable waterfall destination in Spearfish Canyon near Lead, South Dakota.
