Sunflower 19

Sunflower

Piece description from the artist

This was taken while on a road trip with my buddy to Idaho. It was a cross country trip and we decided to take the long way and see some good views. We were in the middle of nowhere and saw this sunflower filed. This photo feels like it was a self portrait for me in that time of my life. I lost a lot of friends around this time and felt like I was just a clone amongst others and needed to reach out for help. I'm happy to say I got out of that season have been blessed by this photo.

About Charlie Byers

Conyers, GA

Charlie Byers has been a professional photographer for five years. He lives on a small farm in  Conyers, Georgia and loves shooting small town street corners and large landscapes. While studying Art at the University of North Georgia, he attended the Light Grey Art Lab in Iceland with other international artists. Growing up in a small town, he learned to love the little things and the small treasures of small town life. He gained a deeper appreciation of the vastness and diversity of the American landscape when he drove with a friend across the country his senior year in high school. Throughout his life, he has also traveled internationally, giving him the opportunity to photograph some amazing parts of the world. One of his proudest moments was when National Geographics posted one of his photographs of a tiger on their Twitter and Facebook pages to commemorate National Tiger Day. His strongest influences are Andy Goldsworthy, Joe Greer, and Jared Hogan. His ultimate goal is to make timeless photographs that connect with people on a personal and spiritual level.
