Piece description from the artist
The city of Venice, made in a different time, and in a different way. Streets are not designed in perfect clean straight rows. They wind along the canals and cobble paths. It is a magical and different place.
Matthew Gauger was born in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Growing up, Mathew spent his time between living in the city and the suburbs, which gave him a unique double-sided perspective to both ways of life, from the rough and gritty sides of urban living, to the clean and orderly ways of suburban living. It gave him perspective on the big picture of life, that no one life is different from any other, just the way we decorate them. His work strives to capture moments in time which are true to our time, and are in turn, timeless.
