Stormy Weather

Piece description from the artist

All the paintings in this series are based on my obsessions with childhood, dreams, and flights of fancy (or imagination). This painting brings past, present and future together in one expansive, dream-like space. It's more foreboding than others in this series, reflecting fears, or, maybe nightmares, or, perhaps, dread of what's to come?

Don't know exactly why the painting turned out this way. Tapped deeply into my subconscious while working on it, it seems.

About Carolyn Oberst

New York, NY

Carolyn Oberst originally pursued a career in NYC as a clothing designer and formed her own company specializing in women’s wear. She discovered a love of painting while creating her own fabrics using a brush with paints and dyes. This discovery inspired her to close her successful business in order to concentrate on fine art. She then studied painting and drawing at the Art Student’s League of NY and at the New York Studio School before setting up her own painting studio.

Carolyn's work has been shown in one person, two person and group shows in various galleries and venues in NYC and beyond. She has had solo exhibitions at the Willoughby Sharpe Gallery in NYC, the Margaret Bodell Gallery in NYC, and M55 Art in LIC, NY. Recent exhibitions include a major two-person show at the Vit Gallery in Seoul, S. Korea (2011).
