Piece description from the artist
A view of some of the stairs along the Presidential Trail Loop hiking trail that takes you to a view below the historic Mount Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota, United States. You can see the four presidents above the trees. While you can clearly see George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, the faces of of Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln are partially covered from the trees. The stairs lead your eyes to the landmark, and then angle to go up to the side between some granite rock formations and tall spruce trees. This is just under a 1 mile hike and includes 425 steps which can make it strenuous for some. I thought it was worth the hike to get to see different angles of the carved mountain which is part of the Black Hills. I capture this in 2026 during the 250th anniversary of Independence.
