Solitary Cyprus Monterey California

Piece description from the artist

This photograph features the famous cypress tree in Monterey, California. I had visited this spot as a child and there has always been a tree on this cliff for decades, although the trees had changed as some had died. My goal in taking this photo was to show the strength that such a small tree could have as it stood tall against its adversary, the ocean wind and storms. The tree had bend over the years, but it remained a symbol of fortitude and vigor. I also like the geometry of this image as one half of the photo is a triangle with the empty space on the other half being an inverted triangle. I can see this photo in a respite room of a hospital or a sunroom of a home. It would bring a sense of calm and peace to its environment as it shows nature at its finest.
