Soft Morning Light Over Lake Powell

Soft morning light over Lake Powell in Page, Arizona, as the colorful sandstone cliffs stand above the calm blue water. A small floating dock extends into the reservoir, where a handful of boats rest before another day of exploring this remarkable desert landscape. Soft clouds drifting overhead add texture to the peaceful Southwest sky.

Stretching through Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Lake Powell is a favorite destination for outdoor enthusiasts from around the world. Its winding coves, rock formations, and water make it a popular location for boating, paddleboarding, fishing, and photography.

I captured this photograph as the lake slowly came to life, enjoying the stillness before the area filled with activity. The gentle reflections and warm desert colors create a tranquil scene that reminds me why sunrise is one of my favorite times to capture the American Southwest.
