Piece description from the artist
Ginny admittedly eats fruit borderline never, but says she has always had a thing for depicting the various shapes and colors at their simplest form. She thanks her Mom, Big Ginny, for setting her up for success by dressing her in that (still amazing) jumpsuit with watermelon slice pockets.
Ginny Nesom is a recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she focused primarily on illustration and fashion design. She has worked alongside fashion illustrator Steve Miller and head wear designer Eia Radosavljevic and was this years recipient of the prestigious Nick Cave Millinery Award. She currently lives in Chicago exploring new concepts, expanding her portfolio, and taking on commissioned projects.
Originally from the East Coast, Ginny developed her artistic interests at a young age and enjoys many forms of creative endeavors such as object design, sculpture, teaching, and mixed media drawing. The influence of her experiences, family, and environment envelop her work with a humorous but curiously edgy aesthetic.
