Piece description from the artist
The entire area surrounding Juneau is the Tongass National Forest, one of the continent's precious temperate rainforests. But it isn't just stands of trees. Vast wetlands border the small city near where the Mendenhall River empties into the Bay. The long blades of grass bend under the weight of the constant rain, creating an undulating pattern which glows due to the water droplets in the right light. When Ansel Adams visited this area, he made studies of the grasses. With the benefit of color photography, the patterns are even more dramatic.
This area is called Taashuyee-Chookan.aaní by the Tlingit.

Currently located in Washington, DC, Scott is a native Floridian photographer specializing in landscape photography. His work explores the interplay of light and dark — rejecting the notion that photography is just “painting with light.” He seeks what resides in the contrast — the liminal spaces of the world.
Scott has shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the world, including Iceland and locations throughout the Old World. But some of his most inspiring locations are right at home in America's enchanting National Parks.
