Schoodic Point and Cadillac Mountain, Acadia | ME

Piece description from the artist

This was a moment when a very warm New England summer yielded to fall. Scrambling around Schoodic Point at a rough section of Maine’s rocky coast, I glanced up to see a rich outlay of color and motion in both rocks and water, illuminated by a mid afternoon sun and thick cloud cover on shore. I captured the moment with many photo images, and made mental note of the complex colors at work. Not at all sure how soon the cloud might overtake the sunlight, I was reminded that uncertainty is both exciting and sometimes beautiful!

About Roy Stever

Easton, NH

Whether en plein air or in the studio, Roy’s paintings are interpretive of composition, color and tone in the style of an impressionist. These elements are accentuated by a distinctive mark, made with knives and various thicknesses of mixed, uncut paint. The works in his portfolio speak to personal experiences. All are painted through observation, from sketches and photos and, in no small part, Roy’s memory.  His simple intention has been to recreate an original moment, pulling the viewer in to what excites the senses most about time in the wild.
