I had such a fun time watching this little Sandpiper early in the morning as the sun began to rise over Destin, Florida, United States. Instead of darting away from the waves like they usually do, this one dove right in. Clearly it had found something worth the splash! The soft pink and purple hues of the sky painted the scene with a peaceful glow, making the bright blue water of the Emerald Coast even more vibrant.
Sandpipers are small to medium-sized wading birds, and they’re a joy to watch as they scurry along the shoreline. This is along the Gulf of Mexico, also known as the Gulf of America, which is part of the Atlantic Ocean basin. Located in Florida’s panhandle, this region is famous for having some of the whitest, most pristine beaches in the world.
