This serene landscape photograph highlights a towering elm tree bordering a gently curving road at Lake Springfield Park in Springfield, Missouri, USA. Captured during a quiet spring evening, the scene feels unhurried and peaceful as the tree’s broad canopy and strong trunk stand in contrast to the open blue sky scattered with soft clouds. Early seasonal leaves signal renewal, adding subtle color and texture to the calm park surroundings.
Though I'm not sure which type of elm this is, the tree belongs to the Ulmus genus within the Ulmaceae family. In a time when mature elms are increasingly rare due to Dutch elm disease, encountering one that has grown to such an impressive scale carries added meaning. The image serves as a quiet celebration of resilience, natural heritage, and the enduring beauty found in Missouri’s park landscapes.
