Reminder

Piece description from the artist

Took this photo while waiting on some friends to go watch a movie. I try to fill my free time with personal and fun photography. Like I have mentioned many times with my other photos, I love the mundane. I try to look deeper into the meaning of the subjects I shoot. I just really loved the red stop sign contrasting with the blue sky and how the white building is kinda holding everything together. It feels very utopian to me. It kinda serves as an ironic reminder to me to slow down and remember that not everything is going to be perfect. Most of the time I like the "flaws" in a scene, but with this photo I tried to make it feel unrealistic and idealistic.

About Charlie Byers

Conyers, GA

Charlie Byers has been a professional photographer for five years. He lives on a small farm in  Conyers, Georgia and loves shooting small town street corners and large landscapes. While studying Art at the University of North Georgia, he attended the Light Grey Art Lab in Iceland with other international artists. Growing up in a small town, he learned to love the little things and the small treasures of small town life. He gained a deeper appreciation of the vastness and diversity of the American landscape when he drove with a friend across the country his senior year in high school. Throughout his life, he has also traveled internationally, giving him the opportunity to photograph some amazing parts of the world. One of his proudest moments was when National Geographics posted one of his photographs of a tiger on their Twitter and Facebook pages to commemorate National Tiger Day. His strongest influences are Andy Goldsworthy, Joe Greer, and Jared Hogan. His ultimate goal is to make timeless photographs that connect with people on a personal and spiritual level.
