Piece description from the artist
Silky blurred exposure of raging water flowing over rocks of Valley Falls State Park on Tygart River near Fairmont West Virginia. The river was flooded this morning as I used a telephoto lens and a 0.6 second exposure to focus in on details of the waterfalls but also to smooth out the rage in the water. What attracted me to this image is the small spout of water that rises from the river, almost as if it is waving its hand to me, the viewer.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
