Piece description from the artist
A short walk to Week Falls in Olallie State Park is where I found sanctuary to heal my heart. As the sun began to hide behind the pines, a distant glow lit the path of the river's spine. From shadows to glow, positive emotions within me began to grow. Detailed etched paths within the rocks, like a timeless score, I then explore. As the artistic beauty of nature becomes impossible to ignore. A moment I take in while in space we spin, within a fragile balance of existence from the exterior to deep within.
Location: Week Falls, North Bend, WA 2025
San Herman López is a fine art photographer for whom the camera is the culmination of a lifelong visual journey. His artistic practice was ignited in childhood with a simple 35mm film camera, a gift from his mother, who became his first subject and instilled in him the belief that photography could capture profound joy and connection.
This foundation evolved through decades of work as a graphic artist and graffiti writer, disciplines that permanently shaped his eye for composition, bold geometry, and layered texture. In 2015, he made a definitive commitment to photography, channeling this multidisciplinary vision into a focused pursuit of the definitive image.
Now based in Sacramento, California, San, a.k.a Sanzei, approaches the vast and varied landscapes of the American West with the same disciplined eye he brought to the coasts of South Florida and the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Beaches, cityscapes, mountain vistas, and desert terrain become complex graphic arrangements in his hands, each image seeking the precise interplay of light, shadow, and form that transcends documentation to evoke feeling and narrative.
His work is available through TurningArt, Saatchi Art, and Fine Art America, and can be explored further at sanzeiphotography.com.
