Periwinkle Marsh

Piece description from the artist

Periwinkle Reflection captures the sensory immersion of twilight on the marsh, specifically the transition where the sky and the waters of Broad Creek in Hilton Head become indistinguishable. The composition is rooted in the concept of "color-echoing," where the candy-hued atmosphere of a Lowcountry sunset is mirrored entirely in the rhythmic movement of the tidal creek. By hand-embellishing each giclee, the artist reintroduces the physical energy of the original experience, using added texture to mimic the literal dance of light on a calm surface. This technique ensures that the play of periwinkle and gold is not just a captured memory, but a living, tactile exploration of how light vibrates in this specific coastal environment.

About April Moffatt

Summerville, SC

April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
