This photograph captures waves crashing against the Perdido Pass rock jetty in Orange Beach, Alabama, just after sunrise. A simple cross stands among the rocks, its meaning left to the viewer's imagination, whether placed in remembrance or as a symbol of faith. Above, soft clouds drift across the sky, touched with gentle hues of pink and purple. The motion of the water and the peaceful coastal light evoke a sense of calm so vivid, you can almost hear the surf.
