Patricia

Piece description from the artist

On February 24th 2016 Nikolai was welcomed into both life and death. He lived for just 3 hours. In that time, and in the days following his passing, he was showered with more love and affection than some have ever known. Each photograph that remains of him is now priceless. Patricia allowed me into the most vulnerable moment of her life in order to not only remember it but also to honor him. This flower was given to me at an infant loss remembrance event that I photographed to honor my own miscarriage, so this is an incredibly personal piece for me.

About Juliana Laury

Pottstown, PA

Juliana Laury is an artist mother exploring the cyclical nature of relationships. Her work focuses on the ways in which the human experience mimics that of the natural world, showing that the two are inherently connected. She combines her expertise in photography and digital manipulation to build delicate and ephemeral works from her photographs and scanned found objects, which are grounded in a balance of form. Her inspirations come from her personal life as a new mother, having given birth to three children in three years and taking on her role as an artist mother as an advocate to others continue creating work despite the demands of young children. Her most recent exhibition, "MaMa" is dedicated to the various stages of motherhood, and is a tribute to the life cycle of a mother.
