Krista

Piece description from the artist

One year ago I gave myself a challenge: create a piece of art every day for 30 days. In that time I revisited my love for flowers and the scanner bed and married my existing skill set into a whole new place. I was pregnant, and urgent to do this small thing for myself before the clock ran out. In that time I made a discovery: that my favorite piece was a collaboration. ⁣This piece, "Krista", was my final piece for my first solo gallery show. I revisited that same prompt that started the whole thing, but this time I added the challenge of including 4 children with the 4 flowers that their mother chose for them. ⁣Krista is the mother's name, and she is a florist so this piece was the perfect combination of her own professional and personal life.

About Juliana Laury

Pottstown, PA

Juliana Laury is an artist mother exploring the cyclical nature of relationships. Her work focuses on the ways in which the human experience mimics that of the natural world, showing that the two are inherently connected. Her inspirations come from her personal life as a new mother, having given birth to three children in three years and taking on her role as an artist mother as an advocate to others continue creating work despite the demands of young children. Her most recent exhibition, "MaMa" is dedicated to the various stages of motherhood, and is a tribute to the life cycle of a mother.
