Nature Surrounded Mount Rushmore

Here's a unique view I captured of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial near Keystone, South Dakota. While hiking the Presidential trail, we came across this large granite boulder with a tree growing from it. I framed the rock to the side with the president faces in the distance on the other side. Part of the Black Hills, the carved mountains stands high above the tops of spruce and pine trees. It includes George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln and is one of America's most recognizable and patriotic landscapes.

The four presidents were selected to represent pivotal chapters in the nation's history, its founding, growth, development, and preservation. Carved into the granite mountainside, their monumental likenesses have become a lasting symbol of the United States and continue to inspire millions of visitors each year.

I captured this during a visit in 2026, the year commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence. The bright morning light illuminated the memorial while the surrounding forest provided a natural frame that emphasizes both the scale of the monument and the beauty of its setting.

Nestled in the heart of western South Dakota, Mount Rushmore remains one of the country's most treasured landmarks, drawing visitors from around the world to experience its remarkable artistry, rich history, and breathtaking mountain scenery.
