Piece description from the artist
The calm waters of Lake Powell reflect the sandstone rock formations on a peaceful morning in Page, Arizona. Gentle ripples create soft reflections of the rugged desert landscape, while a floating boat dock with a few boats stretch out from the shoreline beneath a lightly clouded blue sky.
Created by the completion of Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell is one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the United States and serves as the centerpiece of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. At full pool, the lake covers approximately 161,000 acres, offering countless opportunities for boating, fishing, kayaking, and exploring the dramatic red rock scenery that defines this remarkable corner of the Southwest.
I was drawn to the quiet atmosphere of this scene, where the still water, warm sandstone cliffs, and morning light came together to showcase the peaceful side of Lake Powell before the day's activity began.
