Piece description from the artist
The Henry Mountains rise boldly through a morning haze in this peaceful Utah black and white landscape, creating a calm and almost ethereal atmosphere. I captured this scene from a pull-off along the All-American Scenic Byway 12 near Teasdale, a stretch of road known for its sweeping vistas and ever-changing light.
The tallest peak in view is Mount Ellen, reaching an elevation of 11,523 feet and standing as a dominant presence against the layered mountain backdrop. Portions of this expansive scene fall within Capitol Reef National Park, where rugged terrain and remote beauty define the landscape. In the foreground, evergreen pine trees line the bluffs and rolling hills, their deep green tones contrasting gently with the cool blues of the distant mountains. Low-hanging clouds hover over the peaks, enhancing the mystical and majestic mood of this serene high-desert morning.
