Piece description from the artist
This was actually a test I did for my abstract painting series but this technique is so unpredictable sometimes that even the tests become final works of art. I decided to have it photographed and blown up to 10 times it's size. The movement and the way the colors and different paints interacted here really comes to show that you really don't always know what to expect and sometimes the best results come out once you take off all the pressure and let happy accidents happen.
Martyna Alexander is an artist based in Detroit. Originally, a designer working in corporate settings for over 10 years, she found her way to art through burn-out and a rejection of the rule-obsessed profession, while inherently using her design tools to create new non-practical works. Often comparing the strange harmony of the strict and systematic to the expressive, organic, and spontaneous – oppositions that mirror the many tensions of her interests and modern life.
