Lone iceberg

Lone Iceberg

Piece description from the artist

It was not until the 1770s that Captain James Cook proved that waters did indeed encompass the southern tip of the Earth. These waters, deemed the Southern Ocean, became known as the 5th ocean on Earth. This photo was taken traversing part of the ocean, inside the arctic circle. The ice is so crisp and glassy in the grey dawn, the icebergs resemble marble blocks being shaped into statuary.
