Piece description from the artist
Home to many artists, Wellfleet is a small town near the tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The natural setting drew Henry David Thoreau in the 1800's and continues to be a place of inspiration for many. A unique image revealing the mystery, beauty and intensity of the native ocean, seashore and ruggedness that is… Cape Cod!
Fletcher Boland is an accomplished visual artist. His work shows the mystery, beauty, and perfection of the natural world without the encumbrances of our lives and everyday surroundings.
One of his earliest works, Untitled, won the Boston Globe’s Gold Key Award. It was also awarded a Gold Award from the Alliance for Young Artists and exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C.
Boland’s latest exhibition, Collections, was held in Concord, MA through December 2011. His work has been featured in many other shows and sold through a juried auction at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
