I Just Want to Eat Food

Piece description from the artist

Chaotic, irreverent, and richly textured, I Just Want to Eat Food is a maximalist burst of visual noise and embedded symbols. Saturated pinks, reds, and yellows collide with aluminum-like metallics and slashes of black and white, creating a tension between immediacy and accumulation. The composition feels like a moment of sensory overload—a hunger not just for nourishment, but for sensation, expression, catharsis.

The painting belongs to the artist’s Epiphenomenal Qualia series and shares that body of work’s interest in overflowing compositions and compulsive mark-making. But it also stands apart with its rawness and title—a plaintive, almost childlike declaration that invites both humor and empathy. Repeated Xs, googly eyes, cartoonish outlines, and scribbled glyphs hint at internal states made external and unfiltered.
