This painting is of fall colors reflected on the surface of the water as a boat moves through it. Each color of this painting moves through in a cyclical manner, like the movement of the seasons. I consider reflections on water as a metaphor for time and memory: beautiful but not an accurate depiction of what has passed.
A contemporary artist based in Phoenix, Arizona, Ellen Nemetz is a member of the eye lounge artist cooperative. Ms. Nemetz is known for her contemporary representationalism. She works in oil and acrylic. Her artwork is built on self-examination and observations of her own mental and emotional processes.
Ms. Nemetz studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin and Studio Art at Maricopa County Community Colleges, in Arizona. She is the recipient of the League of Innovation Award (2013 and 2014). Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and is in public and private collections in Europe and the United States.
