Piece description from the artist
Driving through a cool, rainy Fall day in the rural countryside, I came across this clearing of aspen trees, where a herd of horses were grazing in their haven hidden in the trees. When I walked up to the meadow, they all began to run towards me, wanting to come greet me. This was such a lovely moment to photograph, surrounded by the this forest of trees as the fog lifted above, and these friendly horses ran up to me and let me pet them. Horses have long been members of the American West, and have been a foundation of life here. I respect their strength and willingness to work alongside us.
