Happy Sustainable Melodies

Piece description from the artist

This painting is an artistic reflection of a happy sustainable geographic area and the happy melodies it gives off.

Many evidence-based design strategies were used in its creation. I am a certified evidence (research)-based artist. We now have the technology to study the brain on art, and in evidence-based design, the goal is to trigger the brain to produce happiness chemicals.

In this piece, I poured vibrant energy and layers of emotion, blending abstract, expressionism, and impressionism to capture the essence of nature and a sustainable area's joyous burst. The lively colors and dynamic forms ignite a sense of celebration and growth. Imagine this painting filling your space with uplifting vitality and a playful harmony that inspires creativity and breathes life into any room.

This painting is not framed. It will be shipped in a roll and in a crate or box because this method is significantly less expensive.

Composition Size: 5’x8’ (and can be framed larger or smaller)

Actual Canvas Size: 6’x9’ (with 6” trim on all sides)

About Dorothea Sandra

Rogers City, MI

From France to Hong Kong, my art has been successful both nationally and internationally. Known as the "Artist of Happiness," I specialize in floral artwork. I hold evidence-based design certification and incorporate findings from medical and scientific studies to create art that stimulates the release of happiness-inducing chemicals, such as dopamine, in the brain.

In 2024, I had the privilege of being interviewed by a brain research team at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine regarding my art and my book, 100 Days of Happy Happy Art: Evidence-Based Design. Additionally, my work was featured in Healthcare Design Magazine in both 2024 and 2025.

I am also the creator of the Smart City Art Collection, which showcases abstract art pieces aimed at promoting smart and sustainable cities of the future. I was the featured artist at the 2025 SRI Sustainability Research & Innovation International Congress in Chicago. I have also been awarded a 3-month apartment and art studio stay at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, China in 2026. My goal is to paint the beauty of this magnificent city and its many smart city technologies and sustainability accomplishments.
