Grand Staircase Escalante Colorful Layers

Piece description from the artist

The awesome colorful layers in the cliff walls of this canyon in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument will make you stop and say WOW! These are natural colors! Located near Boulder, Utah, United States, layers of tans, deep oranges and browns boldly color the almost smooth rock surfaces. These stratified cliffs tell a story of geological history, shaped over years by erosion and natural forces. In the valley in the green tree and brush area is Calf Creek. I captured this from Scenic Byway 12, also known as Highway 12. It is designated as an All-American Road. This is also in Garfield County.
