Piece description from the artist
This striking black and white long exposure photo showcases the iconic Kanarra Falls waterfall flowing beside a metal staircase within a glowing slot canyon in Kanarraville, Utah, United States. Captured in the spring season, the cold, clear water, only just 36°F, cascades down the rock face, its motion beautifully blurred by the long exposure technique. The warm afternoon sunlight illuminates the canyon walls, enhancing the contrast between the soft water and rugged sandstone textures. Located along the popular 4-mile roundtrip Kanarra Falls hiking trail in Spring Creek Canyon, this scene marks one of the most recognized spots on the route. The hike requires wading through spring-fed water for much of the journey, with sections that involve climbing over large boulders. Over the years, the metal stairs beside the falls have evolved, becoming part of the trail’s unique charm and challenge.
