Global beings 23

Global Beings, 2 #3

Piece description from the artist

The realistic images, which are central to my paintings, become iconic symbols, for example, the Global Beings Series (2001). I paired images of Siamese twins with actual text from Plato's "Symposium". The Global Beings are seen cart wheeling across the canvas, searching, and circling words in an effort to communicate with the viewer.

My mediums are oil paintings, drawings and print works. The images I use in my work are mostly based on self-made or collected photos combined with literature or self-made phrases.
I use digital tools in order to layer text, photos and drawings and combine them to a new work. Photo and text based collages will often merge into drawings or watercolors and these are the starting point for my large scale oil paintings.
