Piece description from the artist
This unique vertical photograph captures George Washington's face on Mount Rushmore National Memorial from an uncommon perspective. Standing below the monument, I photographed the massive granite carving through a natural opening in the surrounding rocks, creating a natural frame that draws your eye upward toward the nation's first president.
Branches of spruce and pine trees add a touch of natural contrast against the bright granite sculpture and clear blue sky, enhancing the beauty of this iconic Black Hills landmark. Located near Keystone, South Dakota, Mount Rushmore is one of America's most treasured national memorials, and finding unique angles like this offers a fresh appreciation for the incredible craftsmanship and scale of this historic monument.
