Flowing Second Falls Kanarra Falls Grayscale

Piece description from the artist

After climbing the ladder beside the main falls at Kanarra Falls, this next cascade comes into view (this photo), spilling gracefully from beneath a large fallen boulder, with another massive towering rock standing guard to the right. Captured in black and white with a long exposure, the flowing water takes on a soft, silky look as it winds through the narrow canyon.

Photographed during the spring season, this moment came after hiking through frigid, 36°F water that flows through Spring Creek Canyon. The roughly 4-mile roundtrip trek follows the stream for much of the way, with sections requiring careful footing and a bit of climbing over large boulders like these. Even in warmer months, the water stays cold, but the reward is a rugged, unforgettable adventure through one of Utah’s most unique slot canyons.
