Falls Along Little Spearfish Creek

I captured this wider view of a little waterfall along Little Spearfish Creek, just west of Roughlock Falls by the parking lot in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Located in Spearfish Canyon, this springtime scene features a curved birch tree leaning over the cascading water, surrounded by a rugged landscape of grasses, brush, and woodland vegetation.

Using a long exposure, I captured the silky movement of the flowing water while subtle, blurred reflections add a soft touch to the creek. I love how this broader composition reveals more of the natural surroundings, showing the contrast between the smooth water, textured riverbanks, and wild beauty of the Black Hills. It's a lovely little waterfall that might be easy to overlook, yet it offers plenty of character for landscape photography.
