Exploring Antelope Canyon By Water

I captured this peaceful morning scene during a boat tour through Antelope Canyon on Lake Powell in Page, Arizona, and I loved the way the early light illuminates the navajo sandstone walls. A few kayakers paddle through the passage, giving the photograph a wonderful sense of scale and showing just how massive these colorful formations are compared with the people exploring them.

As we traveled farther into the winding passage, sunlight revealed layers, curves, and intricate textures carved into the cliffs. Each turn seemed to offer different compositions, which made it such a memorable experience for me as a photographer.

What I especially loved about seeing this landscape from the water was experiencing a side of the famous slot canyon that is often overlooked. Part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, this remarkable setting brings together the rugged character of the Southwest with the quiet serenity of Lake Powell. It was one of those mornings when I could simply sit back, take it all in, and appreciate how incredible the scenery around me was.
