As twilight settles over downtown Springfield, Missouri, Park Central Square takes on a calm, inviting glow. Historic buildings dating from the late 1800s through the mid-1900s are softly illuminated, their detailed architecture highlighted by warm lights and gentle shadows. Located along historic Route 66, the square reflects the rich heritage of the city. I captured this standing at one of the corners of the circle drive. At its center, the iconic fountain shines beneath blue evening sky, its flowing water catching the fading light of dusk. Locals and visitors move through the square at an unhurried pace, adding life to this peaceful moment within one of Springfield’s most recognizable and historic districts.
