Downtown 18

Downtown

Piece description from the artist

The downtown area of my small town has always had a special place in my heart. My dad owned a store on the square and my favorite Chinese restaurant was right next door. This work feature the alleyway behind my dads store and a particularly beautiful building that butts up against it. I challenged myself to reimagine this part of my town, manipulating its image into something even more eye-catching than the norm. I folded my photographic paper on straight lines before exposing each image onto the paper, creating the grid like overlay onto the two collaged images. I love the play that happens with the detail and the manipulated straight lines of the buildings and power lines.
