Donut pile

Donut Pile

Piece description from the artist

As a child, bakery counters, with their alluring delights of pastries, cakes, and doughnuts, were much admired for their aesthetic qualities as well as tastes. The geometries of doughnuts are deceptive; their apparent simplicity is an illusion. They offer endless degrees of nuance in shape, color, and even texture with their glazed surfaces, rich icing, and frolicsome sprinkles catching light on top and delicate shadows beneath.

About Bridget Griffith Evans

Milwaukee, WI

After receiving her B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Bridget has lived and worked in Baltimore, Chicago, and now currently in her hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Bridget’s paintings have been included in numerous exhibitions throughout the U.S. and Canada, including; New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, Baltimore, and St. Louis. Her work is included in many private collections as well as some public.

She's greatly inspired by the "Bay Area Painters":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_Area_Figurative_Movement, and her work straddles the line between abstraction and representation. Fantasy and reality. The real and the unreal. While working, she is constantly thinking about color and spatial relationships in hopes for the viewer to be drawn in and perhaps become a little lost.
