Piece description from the artist
This piece is inspired by the ever changing view outside my studio window. I spend a lot of the winter there, so when the season and weather conditions shift I am subconsciously absorbing the changes and they are revealed in the work. This one was painted late this winter, when the season seemed too long and I was eager for the light and colors of spring.
A native of Washington, D.C. and third-generation artist, Clare's training includes a degree in Fine Art and years of printmaking study at the Corcoran College of Art. Clare’s work has been included in group and solo shows in the in the US and overseas.
Clare's current body of work is united by the theme of ecology and relationships. Through semi abstract nature-based paintings and prints, her work explores the way hope and a sense of connection can be found even during anxious or uncertain times.
According to the artist, "Each project is a challenge for me — finding the delicate balance between process and feeling.”
