Crystal Mill "Selective Color"

Piece description from the artist

The Crystal Mill, or the Old Mill is an 1892 wooden powerhouse located on an outcrop above the Crystal River in Crystal, Colorado, United States. Although called a mill, it is more correctly denoted as a compressor station, which used a water turbine to drive an air compressor. The compressed air was then used to power other machinery or tools. Today it stands as a Colorado icon

MetalPrints™ represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, your images will take on an almost magical luminescence.

About Chad Weisser

Manhattan , NY

Chad Weisser takes photographs to define his experiences, to encapsulate moments and share the earth's most extraordinary places. Naturally, Two of his great passions in life are travel and photography; Chad believes that traveling and gaining exposure to other cultures and places can broadens one's view of the world and photography provides him with a way to explore and share each experience..

Chad considers the art of photography to be a subtractive process where he must distill reality into a personal vision. With this is mind, he often uses the tools of modern photography to try to capture the emotions he experienced the moment he tripped the camera's shutter. Chad also believes that the most important goal of a photograph-as in all of art-is to evoke an emotional response. While many of his experiences in nature do this for him, selecting the places and moments to make a photograph that conveys those emotions is far more difficult. To this end, Chad's processes involve meticulous attention to detail in his field technique, along with work in a digital darkroom to fine-tune and optimize contrasts, colors, tonalities, and luminosity.

Chad currently lives and works in Manhattan, New York.
