Driving through Grand Canyon National Park on a November afternoon I encountered an unexpected storm that dropped heavy rain, hail, and at the higher elevations, snow. Not having a lot of time in the park that day I was worried that the weather would prevent me from getting any shots. I was able to wait out the storm for a bit and during a brief clearing capture the Grand Canyon and surrounding storm clouds illuminated in the late afternoon light.
Brian Kerls is a Colorado landscape photographer whose images of the raw beauty and quiet drama of the world around us are deeply rooted in his life-long love of adventure and exploration. Whether hiking remote trails in the Colorado mountains, chasing golden hour light in the canyons of Utah, exploring urban architecture, or waiting for the sun to set along the Pacific Coast, he seeks out compositions that tell a story and develop a closer connection with the world around us.
