This hand carved granite tunnel landmark is called the C.C. Gideon Tunnel. Located in Keystone, South Dakota, USA, this is along the beautiful scenic Iron Mountain Road in Custer State Park. Also part of the Black Hills, you can see a distant peak of Mount Rushmore as you make your way through the tunnel. I do have other photos with that view too. It is only 13ft wide and 11 feet tall making it one-lane and not all vehicles can go through it. It was constructed in the 1930's. I captured this from the side where it connects to a pigtail bridge. You can see the sign on the right side. A mostly cloudy sky above completes this midwest landscape.
