Carthage Jail: Pathway to Heavan

Carthage Jail: Pathway to Heavan

Piece description from the artist

This painting is a depiction of Carthage Jail, in Carthage Illinois. It was here that the Latter-day Saint (or Mormon) prophet Joseph Smith Jr. was martyred. The jail is now a peaceful and spiritual place for church historians, and believers. The peace felt in this place was remarkable and I hoped to convey it in this painting.
