Carpet Red

Piece description from the artist

I made this piece as I was examining the textures on my family's ancestral Armenian rug. My Great grandmother carried our family's rug from Eastern Turkey to the United States during the Armenian Diaspora.. The textures, the overlay, the smears in the composition symbolize the journey, the stories, the legacy and the attempted erasure of my family and fellow people.
