Piece description from the artist
A breathtaking view stretches out from Calf Creek Viewpoint in Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument, located along Scenic Byway 12 in Boulder, Utah. This otherworldly landscape is defined by cream-toned sandstone mountains, rolling mounds, and sweeping valleys sculpted by centuries of erosion. Flowing slickrock slopes and layered textures create natural lines that guide the eye across the expansive terrain, emphasizing the vast scale of Southern Utah.
Below, a vibrant green tree-lined valley cuts through the desert, revealing the hidden path of Calf Creek as it winds quietly through the landscape. Scattered juniper trees and hardy desert shrubs add subtle hints of green, highlighting the resilience of life in the high desert. Beneath a blue sky brushed with soft, drifting clouds, the scene captures the remote and rugged spirit of the area, where towering cliffs, iconic geology, and deep solitude come together to reflect the timeless beauty and natural artistry of the American Southwest.
