Piece description from the artist
Captured at twilight with the bridge lights glowing against the night sky, this photograph showcases the impressive scale of the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, USA. Spanning the Mississippi River, with a glimpse of the water visible below, the bridge connects Missouri to East Cape Girardeau, Illinois. Opened in 2004, it replaced the historic 1929 Cape Girardeau Bridge and now carries Highway 74 across the river. Named in honor of Bill Emerson, a Missouri congressman who served from 1981 until his passing in 1996, the bridge is also well-known for its appearance in the 2014 film Gone Girl. Its illuminated cables and architectural design create a striking scene along one of America’s most iconic rivers.
