Every summer I take one day to find as many wildflowers as I can. I cam across this vibrant sea of scabiosa (pincushion) blossoms, creating a rich tapestry of textures where delicate, pale lavender petals in the foreground gently give way to deeper, saturated blues in the distance. By utilizing a selective depth of field and a distinct square crop, the image takes on a vintage, painterly quality that emphasizes the rhythmic rise of the slender green stems reaching upward. This piece is an exploration of organic growth and natural repetition, capturing the joyful, chaotic, yet harmonious energy of life in full bloom.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
